STEVE grew up in a house with a Catholic father and a mother obsessed with Stephen King and true crime novels. As a playwright and TV writer, he enjoys working on character-based dramas that make use of magical realism.
SCREENWRITING credits: Steve is currently supervising producer on the CW superhero drama STARGIRL starring Brec Bassinger and Luke Wilson. He was a producer on the popular CBS Drama GOD FRIENDED ME starring Brandon Micheal Hall.
He was co-producer on mystery series TELL ME YOUR SECRETS (premiering on HBO Max in 2020). Steve also wrote on the ABC Series AMERICAN CRIME – created by Oscar winner John Ridley and starring Felicity Huffman, Regina King, Lily Rabe and Timothy Hutton.
He spent two seasons writing for the USA Network show COVERT AFFAIRS starring Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham.
He’s also written the short film Intelligence, and Betty on the Bed (also director, producer and actor).
His original web series, SEND ME premiered on BET.com in 2016 and garnered an EMMY nomination for series star Tracie Thoms. Steve was Executive Producer and creator of the series as well as one of the series leads.
SEND ME was an official selection at 8 festivals and WON two awards: Award of Excellence – Special Mention at the Indie Fest Film Awards and Winner of the Web Series Category at The Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival. See SEASON ONE of the series here!

Also an ACTOR, he has appeared in theatre (The Guthrie, Kennedy Center, Cincinnati Playhouse, Williamstown) on national TV (The Arsenio Hall Show, Law & Order SVU, 90210, Rescue Me, Homicide) and in film (Chico & Rita, Broadway’s Finest, Dark September Rain). Steve also appeared in the web series Head Space.
AWARDS include BEST ACTOR at the Genre Celebration Festival for SEND ME, as well as Favorite Actor in a Web Series by the Indie Series Network. Other honors include the Artistic Achievement Award (Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale), Millennium Telly Award, Le Compte du Nouy prize at Juilliard (two-time recipient), a MacDowell Colony NEA fellowship & two Yaddo fellowships.
Steve is a graduate of Yale, The A.R.T. Institute at Harvard, The CBS Writers Mentoring Program and the playwriting program at Juilliard. Steve is also a certified Creativity Coach specializing in helping writers craft dramatic scripts and launch professional careers.
